[Staff] October Staff Reflections
With Halloween behind us, OLP staff are off to a running start. Read what we have been doing over the past month, starting with a quick overview: Rik looks at the challenges of digital tools for newbies, Barry reflects on various GK alternative assessment tools, Krista writes about her past year working at GK and Amira talks about a new GK initiative working with U.S. jails.
Read the reflections below for a more in-depth description:
- In “Reframing social media for non-early adopters”, Rik is reminded of how challenging social media can be for educators who haven't integrated these digital tools into their daily lives.
- Barry traces the various alternative assessment models developed by GK, in order to assess the learning of a GK youth in his post, “Using Alternative Assessment Models to Empower Youth-directed Learning”.
- In “Entering into a new world,” Krista looks back at her first year of working at GK and her experiences in virtual worlds.
- Amira discusses GK's newest initiative to work within U.S. jails through GK’s Edge Project in her post, “Exploring the Critical Juncture: Our New Program to Reach Incarcerated Youth through Virtual Worlds”.
As always, thanks for reading!
