The 2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Global Kids Leader Brianna and I attended the 2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards on Friday, June 1st at Carnegie Hall. We are grateful to the AMD Foundation for inviting us to experience the wonder event. Brianna (pictured above) shared some thoughts on the evening.

On June 1st I was invited to join with Joliz to attend the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Ceremony at Carnegie Hall. I had a great time! It was my first time going to Carnegie Hall. The inside of it was really beautiful. A fun fact that I learned was that Carnegie Hall first opened 1891. So that means that this building is over a century old. The most exciting part was seeing Meryl Streep. I was so hyped and her speech was really great. But I was most impressed and inspired by all the artwork that was displayed in the slideshow. It reminded me about how I use to love and have a passion for art. When I was younger I actually wanted to become a famous artist. This was memorable experience I will never forget!

Brianna has previously worked on GK's Let's Talk Sustainability Program and will be working this summer in the Virtual Video Project and the Race to the White House Geocaching program.
